Crude
November 22, 2009 by: Anthony‘A Herculean Work of Investigative
Journalism’ Doc at the Flicks
On Sunday December 6, TVCTV (Treasure Valley Community Television) and the Flicks are proud to bring the exclusive screening of the film “Crude” to Boise. “Crude” has won a dozen awards, is nominated for a dozen more — and is already getting Oscar buzz.
“Crude” (http://www.crudethemovie.com/) investigates the “Amazon Chernobyl” case in South America, refusing to take sides. In 1993, 30,000 people in Ecuador’s rain forests filed a class-action suit against Texaco, now Chevron, alleging that ruthless oil drilling poisoned their ancestral territory and caused an epidemic of cancer. Dynamic, tightly arranged, and deliberately provocative, Joe Berlinger’s Crudeis a sobering, enraging wake-up call.
